Manager: John Deacey

John has vast non-league playing and coaching experience, after starting out at Middlesbrough as a youngster.

John was originally brought to the club as assistant manager by former manager Martin Haresign. When Haresign left in 2003, John was kept on by new manager Lee Sinnott. Sinnott then went onto to achieve three promotions in four years culminating with promotion to the Blue-Square Premier with John at his side.

         

When Sinnott left to take over the manager’s position at Port Vale in November 2007, John appointed the club’s caretaker manager. John subsequently applied for the job permanently and was appointed in December 2007. His first game as the permanent boss was against Gateshead in the FA Trophy.

 

Assistant Manager: Neil Parsley

Neil was originally brought to the club to help caretaker manager John Deacey in November 2007. When Deacey was appointed the permanent manager, Neil was appointed the club’s assistant manager. Neil has a considerable amount of experience at professional and non-league level having played for Leeds United, West Brom, Doncaster Rovers and Huddersfield Town amongst others.He ended his playing career with local rivals Guiseley and became the club’s manager in 2000. He had six successful years with them and during that time his team won the West Riding Cup. Neil left in October 2006 and soon found an opportunity elsewhere. Within three months he had took the reins at Unibond Premier side North Ferriby United. His task was to secure their Premier status for another season. He did so with good run of results towards the end of the season.

Things didn’t work at Ferriby and he left a month before joining the Celts.

 

Coach/Goalkeeping Coach: Gary Stokes

An administrator and entertainer, 46-year-old ‘Minty’ or ‘Gazza’ is a valuable member of the coaching staff. He has been with the club for five years and has coached at both professional and non-league level with Bradford City, Nottingham Forest, Guiseley and Thackley. Gary is responsible for all goalkeeper coaching.

 

Physio: Gary Liversedge

 

1.Tom Morgan
(Goalkeeper)

Age 24. Tom, who works as a podiatrist, has been at Farsley for four years after previous stints at Halifax Town and Guiseley. He lists his best ground played at as Elland Road and the best player he has played against as Jermaine Defoe. Tom says his favourite non-league ground is Stevenage Borough.

M-Jackson

2.Mark Jackson
(Centre-half)

Local lad ‘Jacko’ signed for Farsley this summer after leaving Rochdale. The 29-year-old professional footballer/coach started out at Leeds United and has also had stints at Huddersfield Town (loan), Barnsley (loan), Scunthorpe and Kidderminster.
 

3.Mark Hotte

Mark joined from Vauxhall Motors in 2007buthad to wait for the transfer window to open before pulling on a Farsley shirt. Mark's career began at Oldham in 1997 for whom he made 65 apearances. He joined Scarborough in 2002 before joining Billy McEwan’s York City in 2005. He left York at the end of the 2005-06 season to rejoin Scarborough in the Conference North. The season was a bad one for Mark as Scarborough were relegated and then went out of existence. Up until joining the Celts, Mark has had an uneasy season after starting off at Dave Pace’s Droylsden.

A_Iqbal

4.Amjad Iqbal (Vice - Captain)
(Midfielder/Defender)

The 26-year-old Chemistry lecturer has played in a number of positions for Farsley but is at his best in midfield. A former Bradford City youth player, he went on to play for Thackley AFC in the Northern Counties East League before arriving at Farsley. ‘Ammers’ has had trials at Doncaster Rovers, Chesterfield and Burnley.His career hi-light may have comein Oct 2007 when he represented Pakistan in a World Cup Qualifier.

R-Crossley

5.Ryan Crossley (Captain)
(Centre-half)                                                 

                                        
The 27-year-old plasterer was signed from Bradford Park Avenue three years ago. The ex-Huddersfield Town trainee, who has also played for Stevenage and Wakefield-Emley, was stand-in captain in the play-off final victory against Hinckley United in May. Ryan will go down in history after he scored the vital equaliser with minutes remaining
J-Knowles

7.James Knowles
(Midfielder)

A football coach, aged 24, whose previous clubs include Harrogate Railway Athletic and Blackburn Rovers, where he played against an England XI. ‘Knowlsey’ is a former young player of the year at Garforth Town and he has had trials for the Great Britain colleges’ team, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and Halifax Town.

S-Bambrook

8.Simon Bambrook
(Forward)

The 35-year-old fireman’s previous clubs include Emley, Garforth Town and Worksop, from where he was signed in 2005.Simeon is a centre-forward with a record of scoring important goals. He hit the decisive penalty in the shootout success over Kettering in the Conference North play-off semi-final, and the winner from the spot against Hinckley in the final.

D-Reeves

9.Damien Reeves
(Striker)

The 22-year-old fromer Leeds United youngster arrived at Farsley midway through the 2005/06 season having previously played for Wakefield & Emley. ‘Reevesy’ was top scorer last season with 23 goals.

 

10.Gareth Grant
(Striker)

The 26 year-old Leeds-born forward who started out as a trainee at Bradford City and has had loan spells at Halifax Town and Lincoln. Gareth, who is a knowledgeable centre-forward, has also played for Gainsborough Trinity and Harrogate Town, from where he was signed in summer 2006.

A-Watson

11.Andy Watson
(Midfielder)

The 28-year-old Leeds-born player started out at Garforth Town before a £25,000 move to Doncaster Rovers in 1999. He then moved on to Tamworth and has also had a spell at Chester. ‘Watto’, an intelligent player who can operate on either flank, is in his second spell at Throstle Nest. Andy was part of Doncaster Rovers’ Conference play-off winning side in 2003

P-Cuss

13.Paul Cuss
(Goalkeeper)

Paul is an ex-Huddersfield Town trainee who was signed from Wakefield-Emley in 2005. The 28-year-old stopper was an ever-present during the 2005/06 UniBond League Premier Division promotion season. Paul played for Wakefield for five years and is regarded as one of their best ever goalkeepers. Paul has struggled to play for the Celts this year due to work commitments but he will be remembered for his penalty save in the Celts first game and win in the Blue-Square Premier.


R_Stamer

14.Roy Stamer
(Midfielder)

A business accounts manager Roy, 29, was actually born in Germany and his previous clubs include SV Werder Bremen, VfL Bochum and SC Wattenscheid 09. His best moment came when he played against Dynamo Dresden and in the first round of the DfB-Pokal (German equivalent of the FA Cup). His favourite ground is the Ruhr Stadion in Germany. He briefly left the Celts in the summer of 2005 and joined Guiseley before rejoining a few months later.

R-Sugden

15.Ryan Sugden
(Striker)

An estate Agent, Sugden arrived at Farsley Celtic from Halifax Town in January 2007. The 26-year-old has also played for, Morecambe, Burton Albion, Chester and Oldham Athletic.

Ryan is currently injured and is unlikely to feature for sometime.

S-McNiven

16.Scott McNiven
(Right-back)

The 29-year-old defender has more than 350 Football League appearance under his belt having enjoyed spells at Oldham Athletic, Oxford United, Mansfield and Chester. He signed for Farsley this summer from old UniBond League adversaries Guiseley.
A-Allanson

17.Ashley Allanson
(Midfielder)

The 20-year-old was signed by Farsley on a permanent deal this summer following his release from Scunthorpe United. He spent two spells on-loan at Throstle Nest last season. Allanson started out at hometown club Hull City. Ashley has an enjoyable 2007-08 season which has seen him picked for the England Futsal Team. This resulted in him being picked for a Futsal tournament in Malaysia at the end of January 2008.
 

18. Stephen Downes

The 25-year-old pipe fitter arrived at Throstle Nest at the backend of the 2006/07 campaign from Bradford ( Park Avenue).

His previous clubs include Ossett Albion, from where he joined Grimsby Town in 2002. Stephen has also had a spell at York City.

 

L-Tuck

20.Lee Tuck
(Midfielder/Forward)

19-year-old Lee started out in the reserves before progressing to the first team. The bricky, whose previous clubs include Halifax and Bradford (Park Avenue), was an influential substitute in last season’s play-off final success over Hinckley. Lee joined Park Avenue after being released by Halifax in the summer of 2006. But having fallen out of favour there he joined the Celts. Lee broke into the first team during the current season and has being turning in some impressive performances.

C-Thackray

21.Christopher Thrackray
(Defender/Midfielder)

The 19-year-old student has emerged through the ranks at Throstle Nest. He has progressed to the first team from the academy, which is now known as the reserves. Chris has been with the club for three years.

R-Serrant

22.Ryan Serrant
(Left-back/left midfielder)

The 19-year-old impressed after arriving at Throstle Nest on-loan from Leeds United towards the end of last season after an earlier spell at Guiseley. Nicknamed Snoop, Ryan has now made the move permanent.

 

23.Tris Whitman
(Striker)

The Nottingham-born player is another of Celtic’s summer recruits. The 27-year-old started out in the non-league ranks before moving to Doncaster Rovers in 2000. Whitman, who is a sports coach, has also played for Scarborough, Tamworth and Crawley.

 

24 Craig Bentham

Craig was brought to the club on loan from Bradford City during January 2008. Bentham who broke through the City Youth Academy played the majority of the 2006-07 season. However when City messiah Stuart McCall became manager, Bentham fell out of favour. Bentham made his debut against Histon on the 5 th January.

 

B-Camfield

25 Bailey Camfield

The 19-year-old was signed by Celtic boss Lee Sinnott this summer after impressing in a unfamiliar defensive line-up in the pre-season programme. He spent last season at Farsley’s cross-city neighbours Leeds United.

P-McGuire

26.Patrick McGuire
(Midfielder)

Pat was signed this summer after impressing the Farsley management team in the Celts’ pre-season matches. The 19-year-old spent last season as a trainee at neighbours Bradford City.

 

27 Dominic Krief

Dominic signed for his second spell at the club in January 2008 from Unibond Premier side Guiseley. Garforth-born Dominic started his career with Leeds United and progressed into the reserve team before being released.

He then joined Harrogate Town in the Conference North in 2004 and impressed that particular season’s champions Southport who snapped him up to play in the Conference. Dominic left Southport midway through the 2005-06 season to join the Celts and was part of the club’s promotion team to the Conference North. Dominic then left the Celts and joined Stalybridge during the 2006-07 season. But he didn’t stay long there and moved to brother-in-law Phil Sharpe’s Bradford ( Park Avenue) in March 2007. He stayed there for two months before joining Guiseley

A-Cooper

28.Andrew Cooper
(Midfielder)

The 19-year-old’s previous clubs include Huddersfield Town, though he is best known as a promising young player who has arrived in Farsley’s first team via the junior section and the reserves.

 

N-Smith

29.Nick Smith
(Forward/Winger)

The 19-year-old mortgage support agent is in his second spell with the club having spent two years at Celtic, from 2003 to 2005, before leaving to sign for Bradford City. ‘Smudger’s’ previous clubs at junior level also include Leeds United and Oldham Athletic.

M-Wilberforce

30. Mark Wilberforce

Mark Wilberforce
(Goalkeeper)

 The 20-year-old footballer/machinist was signed by the Celts from Scarborough this summer. The former Leeds United youth team player, nicknamed Wilber, impressed playing for Boro against Farsley in Conference North last time round.

 

 

31.Curtis Aspden

Curtis signed for the club in January 2008 from Hull City and made his debut away at Kidderminster.

 

 

 

32. Stephen Torpey

Steve was target of Lee Sinnott’s in the summer but a call from Lincoln City tempted him to go there. However he eventually joined in December 2007 on loan and then permanently after his release from Lincoln.

He is very experienced at 37 years of age and has played for Millwall, Bradford City, Swansea, Bristol and Scunthorpe.

He scored his first goal for the club in the 3-0 Boxing Day massacre of Halifax Town.
 

33. Scott Gardener

Scott joined from Leeds United on loan during January 2008. Scott has made one appearance for Leeds and that was in the League Cup.

Scott made his Celts debut against Stevenage during January 2008.

 

35. Colin Heath

Colin is a former Manchester United striker who signed for the Celts during September 2007. He has experience of playing abroad as he was sent on loan to Royal Antwerp from Manchester United. Last season he played under Paul Ince at Macclesfield however he wasn’t offered a contract at the end of the season. Colin has scored two goals this season against Aldershot and Forest Green.

 

36. Matthew Lawlor

Matthew joined Farsley on loan from Blackpool during January 2008. Matthew made his debut against Alfreton in the FA Trophy

 

37.Chris Backhouse

Chris is the Reserve team goalkeeper who made his first team debut against Alfreton in the FA Trophy.

 

 

38.Georges Santos

Georges signed for the Celts during January 2008 from Alfreton Town. Celts boss John Deacey snapped him up after an impressive performance against the Celts in the FA Trophy when he played as a striker. Georges is possibly the most experienced player in the Celts squad at 37 years of age. He started his career in his home-country France before coming to England to play for John Aldridge at Tranmere in 1998. He was soon spotted by other teams and joined West Brom two years later before departing to join Neil Warnock’s Sheffield United. After leaving Sheffield in 2002 he later played for Grimsby, Ipswich, QPR, Brighton and Chesterfield before joining Alfreton.

Georges made his debut against Stevenage in the centre back and his commanding performance received a lot of praise.
