York Preview: Torpey: "We can still survive!"
By James Grayson
Celtic’s player/coach Steve Torpey has said in the wake of the Forest Green, Celtic can still survive.
Torpey admitted that the defeat by Forest Green wasn't helpful: “Of course we can, you look at the league table we have plenty of chances to survive. We should have got something out of the Forest Green game, but it makes it more difficult to survive.”
Torpey came on as late sub against Forest Green said that Tuesday’s game at York is a must-win game just like Grays: “We haven’t got to win but it would be nice to win, we don’t want to leave it till Saturday. It depends on other results but we have to start picking up points and three points on Tuesday would be great.”
Celtic looked set to survive after winning at Torquay but ever since then, things have gone wrong, Torpey is struggling to find answers, he commented: “It started against Droylsden when we should have won. Ever since then injuries have mounted up and we haven’t won in four.”
Torpey was disappointed with Saturday’s defeat – even more so with the first goal, he said: “Forest Green were going through the motions but the first goal disappoints everyone. We have been practising set pieces and how to defend. To concede from what was their first corner is disappointing.”
he game on Tuesday is winnable as York have not been on the best of runs. They have only won once in the last month and during this poor run – they lost 6-1 to Crawley.
