Farsley C 3 Halifax T 0
26 December 2007
Manager John Deacey gave Lee Tuck a start after an impressive performance as substitute against Gateshead mid week. Ryan Serrant returned at left back, but new signing Dominic Krief was not available. Both teams set off positively and both Farsley full backs Serrant and Downes were kept busy but both were performing well. In midfield Knowles and Iqbal began to dominate. Farsley took the lead on 26 minutes when McNiven's free kick was headed onwards and Roy Stamer was on hand to convert at the second attempt.
Farsley went 2-0 up when a Stamer corner was met by James Knowles at the near post. His glancing header flew into the roof of the net at the back post. Steve Torpey added the third when he lobbed the ball over keeper Legszdins and then slotted the ball home with his right foot from a tight angle. Halifax did have the chance to pull one back from the spot after referee Matadar pointed to the spot after a push in the area. Halifax's own Steve Torpey hit the kick towards the bottom right of the net, but Farsley keeper Tom Morgan was able to save well. |
