Farsley Celtic Were Held To A Hard-Earned 1-1 Draw By Ebbsfleet United

The Game was delayed by half an hour as Ebbsfleet United turned up late after their coach broke down. A crowd of 582 saw Farsley Celtic take the lead in the 12th minute when Gareth Grant was wrestled to the floor by an Ebbsfleet defender. Stephen Downes succesfully scored his second penalty in as many games, sending the diving keeper the wrong way. Neither side created many clear cut opportunities untill Ebbsfleet's Stacey Long cut inside from the left wing in the 23rd minute and sent a splendid right foot drive into the top left hand corner, leaving the diving Tom Morgan with no chance.

Simeon Bambrooks left-footed free-kick in the 55th minute smashed into the crossbar, when it looked certain to hit the back of the net. Bambrook was soon denied again, but this time by a terrific block tackle after Gareth Grant had done some tremendous work down the right wing. Ebbsfleet pressured Farsley in the last 20 minutes but the unfamiliar defensive partnership of Knowles and Iqbal held firm.
