Farsley C 1 Crawley T 5
29 December 2007
Manager John Deacey recalled Damian Reeves in place of the injured Roy Stamer. Reeves started up front in a 3 alongside Torpey and Tuck with Bambrook dropping into midfield.
Farsley went 1-0 down inside the first 10 minutes. The referee blew for hand ball against Reeves on the edge of the Farsley box. The Crawley players clearly felt that Reeves was inside the box. The resulting free kick was played hard and low across the Farsley box. All defenders failed to get a foot on the ball and Lee Blackburn at the far post lashed the ball into the roof of the net. Tyrone Thompson the Crawley skipper was then lucky to escape a yellow card after a poor tackle on Reeves. Farsley's only shot on target in the first half came from Lee Tuck who forced a good save from keeper Bayes. A head to head coversation between Thompson and Torpey led to both players seeing a yellow card. Thompson was grateful he had not been booked earlier for his foul on Reeves. A minute before half time Stephen Downes appeared to misjudge a header and Pierre Joseph Dubois made it 2-0.
A shocking start to the second half saw the Celtic defence cut open on the left side and down the middle 3 times in 4 minutes as Thompson, Evans and Cook put the result beyond doubt. Farsley's concilation came from substitute Gareth Grant whose 18 yard shot was defelected past Bayes. |
