Welcome to the Official Farsley Celtic Website
Farsley Celtic 1 - 4 York City

The post Lee Sinnott era kicked off in front of Setanta tv cameras last night at Throstle Nest with Sinnott's assistant manager John Deacey acting as Caretaker manager. Deacey was without the suspended James Knowles but was able to recall fit again Roy Stamer and Simeon Bambrook. Amjad Iqbal also returned after international duty.

Farsley had an encouraging opening 5 minutes but were rocked in the 8th minute when Stamer lost possession on the left wing and York broke and McBreen fired them ahead. The lead doubled on 23 minutes. This time Ryan Crossley was caught in possession. Sodje had a great effort well saved by Tom Morgan, but the rebound was hit goalward by Brayson and although Serrant looked certain to be able to make a goal line clearance he appeared to lose his footing. Farsley did hit back after 30 minutes when Stamer cut in from the left and fired an unstoppable shot into the bottom right hand corner of the York net. It could well have been 3-1 at half time but for a fantastic finger tip save from Morgan pushing the ball on to the woodwork.

In the second half Farsley had a good 25 minute spell but did not look threatening in front of goal. With 10 minutes to go Stephen Downes missed an interception and substitute Farrell hit a great shot past Morgan. He repeated the feat 3 minutes later when the Farsley defence switched off and allowed him a neat one two before hitting another unstoppable shot. Bambrook did have a good free kick well saved in injury time
