Iqbal: “We are forming a strong defensive unit!”

Celtic stand-in captain Amjad Iqbal is delighted with the partnerships that are forming at the club.
‘Ammers’ along with his fellow international Georges Santos are leading Celtic to safety with brilliant defensive performances game after game. Their partnership at the back is just one of many.
‘Ammers’ praised his other team-mates for the reason why the team is playing well in defence, he said: “I would say there are loads of partnerships on the pitch that are forming as a result of the recent results. Up front we have Damian Reeves and Steve Torpey doing well and then in midfield Dominic Krief and Craig Bentham doing well as well. Along with me and Georges we have Scott McNiven and Mark Jackson and we are forming a strong defensive unit.”
‘Ammers’ was disappointed that Celtic did take all three points at Salisbury on Saturday, he commented: “We were so comfortable throughout the game and we were that comfortable I was confident we would get the three points. They caused us no trouble and it was just unfortunate that they got a goal right at the end.
‘Ammers’ scored the own goal that gave Salisbury a point, but he has picked himself up and forgot about it, he said: “The ball got intercepted and then crossed into the box. I couldn’t get back in time and as the lad rose I jumped as high as I could but he headed it and it hit the back of my head and went in. This made it 1-1 and we would have been happy with a point before the match. But as the game developed I felt we were the lot better side.”
Celtic wasted chance after chance and this gifted Salisbury a way back, ‘Ammers’ says Celtic have to start killing games, :“The keeper was pulling off some great saves but our own mistakes were our undoing. We have got to start knowing how to finish games but unfortunately we didn’t do it at Salisbury on Saturday. Two days on I still think we have lost two points”
