Georges Santos: “I will do My Best!”

By James Grayson

New Farsley Celtic player Georges Santos made his debut for the Celts last night and put in a decent performance.

Georges, 37 signed for Celtic on Tuesday from Alfreton Town and he was satisfied with taking a point from the game with Stevenage, the Frenchman commented: “We had a few chances to score but I think a draw was a fair result. But let’s hope that the point we gained tonight helps us stay up at the end of the season.”

Peter Taylor’s Stevenage surprised many people because of their failure to create chances, Georges praised Celtic boss John Deacey for tactics, he commented: “In the first ten minutes they tried to break us but we stayed compact and as a back four we did a good job. We have a tactic that if we lose the ball we stay in shape and that is what we did so we got a good result.”

Georges is glad to have been given the chance to step up to a high level again after dropping to the Blue-Square North, he said: “I got a call from Nicky Law (Alfreton manager) when I left Chesterfield because he wanted me to join his team. I agreed so I could keep match-fit. I was happy and they also helped me find a club and here I am at Farsley.”

Georges played at Throstle Nest two weeks ago for Alfreton in the FA Trophy as a striker, Georges clarified his preferred position, he said: “Since I came to England, I have played in all sorts of positions. I enjoy playing elsewhere but my position is centre-back or centre-midfield. I know the gaffer brought me here to stabilise the defence so I will do my best!”
